I am really keen to get on my MTB and break the fear barrier of the 'hip'!
But I really need to get on my road bike more at the moment so with the weather looking good for Sunday, I will probably opt for a road ride - though none has been posted as yet.... but am keen to ride on Sunday.
Well I made it out to Woodhill and got a huge surprise to see the carpark full to capacity. I invented a car park beside the Disc Golf area and purchased a 6 visit concession for $40. Good value as it makes an $8 visit cost only $6.50. Phil would approve. With so many folk out there the skill level ranged from pro down to first timers. I was keen to see the new additions to the MTB park and got a brief as to where to go. "Dont go on "Not for Grannys" unless you know what youre doing." Two jumps and no bypasses. So I headed up the usual hill and into the woods. Amazing with a full car park and me just on my own. Eventually I came out by the "Old Carpark" and teamed up with a bunch that were heading to the new stuff. Tagged along and then there it was. A bit gnarly, steep and mucky. I avoided the left turn into Not for Grannys and followed my new mates up the steep climb passing a few kids who didnt have the legs for it. The new parts were quite good with a lot of up and down where keeping ones momentum really helped. No major frights and eventually I came out onto the road in one piece. I carried on on my own and did some of the old stuff before calling it a day and heading back to the main carpark via No Vacancy. Unfortunately I caught up with a slower guy so was content to sit behind him until he graciously pulled over and let me go whizzing down the last bit. Nearly 20kms done which must be a record for distance for me at Woodhill MTB.
